Nursing
is a noble health care profession, which functions along with other health care agencies in assisting individuals, families and community to achieve and maintain desirable levels of health. The function of a nurse Is to assist a person. sick or well in performing activities contributing to health or its recovery or to peaceful death. The program is intended to provide an opportunity to a large segment for nurses to upgrade their knowledge and skills to respond to change the health needs of society to motivate nurses to maintain clinical competence. to provide quality care to develop teaching administrative and research skills and to promote personal & professional growth. Basic nursing education Is a formally recognized programme of study. which provides a broad & sound foundation in the behavioral and life science & nursing need of clients from birth to death. The basic diploma course in general nursing & midwifery aims are preparing nurses with a sound educational programme to function as efficient members of the health team as there is lack of trained nursing staff in the state & also to help the Govt. in achieving the goal of health for all. The diploma in general nursing & midwifery course run by R.N.P.C. is 3% years course.

AWARD OF DIPLOMA REGISTRATION- The diploma is awarded along with registration done by State Nursing Council after completion of the course.
ELIGIBILITY
(a) A candidate who has passed intermediate or 10 + 2 examination or any other equivalent examination (preferably with Science)
(b) The candidate should have completed the age of 17 to 35 years at the time of admission to the course.
